INSURANCE POLICY DETAILS


Driving Licence/Endorsements

A full driving licence must have been held for:
  • 21-24 years of age - 2 years with no endorsements or accidents during that time.

  • 25-70 years of age - 1 year. Some minor endorsements may be permitted, but we must be advised of these at the time of reservation.

Please inform us if you are waiting to be prosecuted for any motoring offence, or if you have had your licence suspended within the last 10 years.



Insurance/Accident Record

Please advise us:
  • If you have had any accidents or claims during the past 3 years.

  • If you have had an insurance proposal turned down, cancelled or renewal refused, or had to pay an increased premium or had special conditions imposed by a motor insurer.



Age Limits

21-70 years:

Drivers over the age of 70 are acceptable provided they hold a valid driving licence, are known to Lakeside Hire, have hired previously and have an acceptable claim/conviction record. They must also appear physically fit and mentally alert according to our insurance policy guidelines. If all requirements are not met, insurance will not be given.

The following age limits apply for our vehicles:
  • Small Car e.g. Ka / Corsa – 21 years+
  • Medium Car e.g. Focus / Astra 1.6 – 21 years+
  • Family Car e.g. Mondeo / Vectra 1.8 – 23 years+
  • Larger Car e.g. Mondeo / Omega 2.0 or greater – 25 years+
  • MPV – 25 years+
  • Minibuses 25 years+ (subject to entitlement to drive shown on licence)
  • Car Derived Vans e.g. Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Partner – 21 years+
  • SWB Vans e.g. Transit 260 / 280 / Peugeot 250 HDi – 21 years+
  • 3500kg Vehicles – 23 years+
  • 7500kg Vehicles – 25 years+ (entitlement to drive must be shown on licence)

Occupations

Unfortunately, we are unable to insure any persons involved in the following occupations:
  • Entertainment (Including Disco, Karaoke, Musicians & Theatre).
  • Professional Sport.
  • Racing.
  • Gambling.
  • On-course Bookmakers.



Health Issues

Please inform us if:
  • You have any physical or mental disability or infirmity.
  • You have diabetes, or suffer from fits or any heart complaint.


Customers Responsibilities

Items not covered by insurance:

  • All damage caused to tyres and windscreens, the interior and any damage to the vehicle above cab height.
  • Any third party damage caused by any part of the vehicle above cab height.
  • Hirers remain liable for the additional insurance excess as detailed in our terms and conditions.
  • In the event of the vehicle being left unattended with keys in the ignition, unlocked or if the hirer parts with possession of the keys, the hirer will be fully responsible for any loss, damage or theft of the vehicle.
